The Board of Directors and Spotsylvania Tourism recently celebrated the 8th Anniversary of the John J. Wright Educational and Cultural Center Museum with a Commemorative Program.

Our TORCH recipient this year is the only living principal of John J. Wright Consolidated School (pre-desegregation), 91-years old, Mr. Charles Conyers. He shared stories and history about his years as principal of John J. Wright Consolidated School.

Awards were presented to honored museum members and our 2018 Young Blazes, Clifton Goode, Kayla White and Anthony Dowdy, Jr.

We had a wonderful evening. Thank you all in helping us celebrate the progress of education and the preservation of Spotsylvania’s African American history.
